We thank our generous donors who have responded to our open letters in the Forward and the Jewish Week!
Here are two of the many notes we have received.

"I read your advertisement in the Forward, and your story touched me. I know 3 women that grew up in Binghamton. Each had minimal Jewish education, and luckily, each have taken strong roles within the Washington DC Jewish community. One is a school teacher in the CE Smith Jewish Days School, another is an administrator at the Jewish Foundation for Group Homes, and the last is a school teacher in the County schools with 2 children in Jewish Day schools. I would hope that if they had the opportunity to go to Hillel, then they would have had an easier road. I have fond memories of Binghamton -- my wedding at Temple Concord and reception at the JCC, attending services at Temple Concord, Temple Israel, Beth David and the old shul in Endicott, and spending many days in Vestal. I wish you luck, and I hope that my small donation helps with the future of Jewish community in the Tri-city area."

"This donation is actually from my mother, 96 years old, now living in a nursing home in Far Rockaway, Queens, NY. She had seen your request for donations in The Forward and asked me to send you the money because she had grown up in the Binghamton area and was concerned about the Jewish community there. She was 9 years old when her father died (buried in the area) and the family moved to NY city the following year."
